Fun and Easy Tricks To Teach Your Dog
When you say dog training, most people would think of the basic training commands like sit, back up, roll over or stay. While it is amusing to see a dog do these tricks, there are a lot of unseen benefits from them too. Dog tricks allow the dog to get mental stimulation which is essential for good health. Another thing is, it is actually quite fun to teach a dog some tricks to show to your friends.
Here are some easy dog tricks that you can teach your dog.
- Take a bow
Bowing is where a dog puts its chest to the ground while keeping his rear up in the air. Not many trainers train their dogs to do this trick which is why you may think it is a hard trick to do. The fact is, it can easily be learned since bowing is a natural behavior of dogs.
- Back up
Back up is a great dog trick to teach your dog. If your dog knows this trick, you can avoid him rushing out the door or even strangers. It is a fun trick to show your visitors. A dog that backs up a few steps on command is definitely a sight to see.
- Shake hands/paws
Imagine your dog shaking paws with your friends as a form of greeting. How cool would that be? It is an easy trick to learn but the payoff is a big smile every single time.
- Spin
Make your dog spin by using a treat and holding it near its nose. Once you lure your dog into a spin, you can easily make it remember this trick. After a few sessions, your dog can now spin on command.
- Wave hello
This is almost the same as shaking paws, only this time, your dog will only lift its paws and shake it a couple of times. Once your dog knows how to do the shake paw thing, you can easily get it to learn this trick. Quite a fun sight too – when you see your dog waving hello or goodbye to you and your friends.
- Play Dead
This is another fun trick to have. Imagine the looks on your friends’ faces when you pull an imaginary gun and shoot your dog while saying ‘BANG!’ and it falls over. This trick never fails to disappoint.
- Roll over
This may seem like a hard trick to teach your dog and while that is true, it will be worth it once your dog learns this trick. You will need a couple of sessions before you dog can do a full turn smoothly. Once your dog learns this trick, you can be sure that he can learn any other basic tricks there is.
Learning tricks is not only fun for dogs but for owners as well. It can create a bond that will last a lifetime. Even a simple dog trick can put a smile on your face. Imagine how happy you would be if your dog can several tricks on your command.
