Parenting and Dog Training – How Are They Related?

Many homeowners find that owning a dog is a necessity to have a fulfilling life. Not saying that it’s true but the case can be made. A complete family, for some people, would look something like this – parents, children, and a dog. I’m pretty sure you can imagine this kind of picture in your head. This is how some people imagine a great life would be.
Benefits of owning a dog
Dogs are great companions especially for parents. They can help increase the immune system of the kids especially when exposed young. Many studies have actually linked good health in kids to early exposure to dogs. Of course, there are still many research need to confirm this but the evidence is plenty out there.
Another thing that is beneficial for parents is that kids that grow up with dogs will show more compassion and caring than kids who don’t. When you are able to expose your kids to caring for your dog, you will in turn teach them compassion and kindness. This goes out a long way since the behavior of your kid on their adult life is directly correlated to how they were raised as a child. If you can provide them good virtues through proxy caring for your dog, that is a great case of parenting.
What if my dog has behavior problems?
One problem that many parents have for owning a dog is when their dog is not acting accordingly. A lot of parents get a dog for the sake of owning one, not considering the responsibility of owning a dog. While this is a big mistake on their part, there are still many ways to correct your dog’s behavior. You can even hire a professional that specializes on these kinds of things.
If you have a kid at home, you absolutely need a well-behaved dog. You need an obedient dog if you are going to let it live with your kids. A bad dog will make raising a child exponentially harder because instead of raising just one kid, you are forced to deal with two beings with no control over their emotions. If you can somehow have at least one of them trained, your life will be much easier. In this case, your choice is the dog. Dogs are easier to train than kids because they mature faster. This is the reason for the term ‘dog years.’ They will reach their mature age faster than humans so a good training is enough of a foundation for their lifetime.
Fixing dog behavior problems
You have two choices here (1) train the dog yourself, or (2) hire a dog behavior expert. The first choice requires more responsibility by you. By taking on your dog training, you must display patience and resilience throughout the training process. Dogs aren’t exactly bright beings so you need patience and repetition to drill any training to their heads.
The next choice, and probably the easier would be to hire an expert. If you don’t have the time, you can hire an expert to train your dog. They will make sure that when the dog gets back to you, it will be well-behaved enough. Just make sure to follow their after-instructions to make the dog training stick to their behavior patterns.…
